In addition to the biggest sources of CO2 emissions, such as cars, aviation, container ships, and coal-fired power stations, there are also less obvious contributors like the way we build. Until today, we have depended heavily on concrete for constructing commercial and non-commercial buildings and structures, making concrete the most widely used building material in the world.
We need cement to make concrete, and producing cement requires a huge amount of calcium carbonate. During the furnace process, calcium carbonate degrades into 56% calcium oxide and 44% CO2. This process makes the cement and concrete industry responsible for an estimated 5% of global CO2 emissions.
Many environmental benefits come with using magnesium oxide board (MGO). The curing process captures carbon dioxide. Unlike other competitive materials, MGO boards contain no asbestos, formaldehyde, ammonia, silica, or benzene, and the chloride content generally falls below 8%. The mining of magnesite is conducted on the surface without chemicals, only requiring the breaking of magnesite chunks from the mountain. Any dust created is beneficial to the land, people, or animals it contacts.
MGO COMPOSITE is a technologically advanced, high-performance, fully recyclable magnesium oxide building material. It is used to replace gypsum drywall, fiber cement wallboards, oriented strand board, or plywood. As a mineral-based green building material, it offers resistance to mold, mildew, fungus, and extreme environmental exposure, making it the perfect choice for health-conscious builders and families. This means no warping, swelling, or rot when exposed to water or other elements. Because it is resistant to extreme cold or heat, construction can take place in virtually any environment, at any time, and in any season.
Using MGO COMPOSITE can lead to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, directly contributing to a 50% cut in the total amount of CO2 emissions from building materials.
